Yet none of these perfection needs : —
Keep thy heart calm all day, And catch the words the Spirit there
From hour to hour may say.
Then keep thy conscience sensitive;
No inward token miss : And go where grace entices thee; —
Perfection lies in this.
Be docile to thine unseen Guide,
Love Him as He loves thee; Time and obedience are enough, And thou a saint shalt be. |

My Soul! what hast thou done for God?
Look o'er thy misspent years and see ; Sum up what thou hast done for God,
And then what God hath done for thee.
He made thee when He might have made A soul that would have loved Him more;
He rescued thee from nothingness, And set thee on life's happy shore. |
